20 Questions Steel City Interactive Needs to Answer About Undisputed 2

20 Questions Steel City Interactive Needs to Answer About Undisputed 2

POE & THE COMMUNITY SPEAKS | COMMUNITY ACCOUNTABILITY QUESTIONS

Steel City Interactive has confirmed that its sequel is being developed from the ground up in Unreal Engine. SCI has also discussed improved movement, rollback netcode, boxer motion capture, and greater community transparency. However, many important questions about the depth, authenticity, and overall direction of the game remain unanswered.

Ash Habib Statement+2

These are 20 questions I believe SCI's leadership, developers, and community managers should address publicly before consumers are asked to invest in another Undisputed game.

Realistic Boxing Gameplay and Boxer Authenticity

1. Is Undisputed 2 being developed as a genuinely realistic boxing game, or will it continue incorporating arcade and fighting-game mechanics?

What is SCI's actual gameplay philosophy, and what specific design standards determine whether a mechanic authentically represents boxing?

2. Will individual boxers finally have comprehensive tendencies, capabilities, traits, mannerisms, and signature techniques?

Will Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto DurĂ¡n, and other boxers behave differently because of their actual boxing identities, rather than merely having different ratings, animations, and visual appearances?

3. Will ratings and gameplay behavior be treated as two separate systems?

For example, will a boxer with excellent punching power still be limited by his actual punch selection, ring intelligence, defensive habits, conditioning, and technical capabilities?

4. Will Undisputed 2 introduce a comprehensive inside-fighting and clinching system?

Can players expect authentic infighting, framing, smothering, wrestling for position, clinch escapes, short punches, defensive counters, and referee intervention rather than limited or scripted interactions?

5. Will footwork, distance management, punching mechanics, and defensive movement be rebuilt around authentic boxing principles?

SCI has discussed expanding its movement system. But will players actually experience improved pivots, cutting off the ring, weight transfer, balance, stance switching, and punching while moving?

Career Mode, Offline Gameplay, and Creation Suite

6. Will career mode be significantly deeper than the original Undisputed?

Will it include an amateur boxing career, Olympic competition, realistic matchmaking, changing rankings, sanctioning bodies, negotiations, injuries, rivalries, promotions, training camps, and meaningful decisions outside the ring?

7. Will Undisputed 2 feature a fully functional in-ring referee throughout every round?

Will referees physically interact with boxers, separate clinches, issue warnings, deduct points, recognize fouls, call doctors, assess knockdowns, and stop contests based on individual officiating tendencies?

8. Will the creation suite become a major standalone feature rather than a secondary customization option?

Will players be able to create boxers, referees, judges, trainers, managers, promoters, organizations, championship belts, gyms, arenas, fighting styles, signature punches, and customized boxing universes?

9. Will offline gamers have independent customization options that are not restricted by competitive online balancing decisions?

Will offline players be allowed to edit ratings, tendencies, rules, stamina, damage, referee behavior, boxer capabilities, and other gameplay settings without affecting ranked online competition?

10. Will there be extensive offline modes beyond traditional career mode and exhibition matches?

For example, will SCI consider a persistent boxing universe, promoter mode, manager mode, amateur tournaments, historical boxing events, customizable organizations, CPU vs. CPU championships, and full event-card creation?

Artificial Intelligence, Presentation, and Boxing Depth

11. Will CPU-controlled boxers possess authentic boxing intelligence that adapts to opponents and situations?

Will AI recognize weaknesses, change tactics, protect injuries, adjust distance, exploit predictable habits, follow corner instructions, and demonstrate different levels of ring IQ?

12. Will corner teams finally have meaningful tactical and strategic responsibilities?

Will trainers, assistant trainers, and cutmen offer individualized instructions, suggest adjustments, treat injuries, influence preparation, and affect a boxer's development throughout his career?

13. Will Undisputed 2 deliver a complete boxing broadcast presentation?

Can consumers expect authentic ring introductions, referee instructions, ring walks, corner conversations, judges' scorecards, doctor examinations, meaningful commentary, post-fight interviews, championship ceremonies, and multiple broadcast camera perspectives?

14. Will there be multiple authentic versions of individual boxers, including their amateur years and different professional career stages?

Instead of simply offering several visual appearances, will each version represent the boxer's actual age, physical condition, boxing knowledge, strengths, weaknesses, tendencies, fighting style, and career development?

Online Gameplay and Technical Accountability

15. What specific technical guarantees or measurable performance targets will SCI establish for Undisputed 2's online gameplay?

With rollback netcode reportedly being incorporated, how will the studio test and demonstrate improvements in desynchronization, punch registration, latency, defensive responsiveness, and competitive reliability?

Operation Sports+1

16. Will SCI allow online and offline gameplay to evolve independently while retaining the same authentic boxing foundation?

Will ranked competition have standardized competitive settings while offline and private online matches offer customizable rules, gameplay adjustments, and mutually agreed match conditions?

Community Representation, Transparency, and Consumer Trust

17. Who is actually influencing the design direction of Undisputed 2, and how are those individuals being selected?

Are SCI's advisors primarily content creators, competitive online players, professional boxers, trainers, experienced boxing gamers, or knowledgeable boxing-system designers? How will the studio ensure that offline players and career-mode enthusiasts receive meaningful representation?

18. Will SCI commission a genuinely independent, third-party consumer survey before finalizing its major gameplay systems, modes, and features?

Will the survey include casual gamers, competitive players, offline players, realistic boxing enthusiasts, career-mode specialists, creation-suite enthusiasts, and boxing fans who currently do not play boxing videogames? Will the full methodology and results be publicly available?

19. What has SCI learned from the original Undisputed, and which fundamental design decisions have actually changed?

Beyond changing engines, expanding the development team, improving animations, and recruiting additional industry professionals, what concrete gameplay systems, architectural decisions, and quality-assurance processes will prevent the sequel from repeating the original game's problems?

20. Before Undisputed 2 launches, will SCI publicly demonstrate that its major promised systems are fully functional rather than relying primarily on trailers, controlled demonstrations, content creator endorsements, and marketing claims?

Will consumers receive substantial unedited gameplay demonstrations, detailed development explanations, independent testing opportunities, and clear documentation distinguishing completed features from planned features?

Poe's Closing Challenge to Steel City Interactive

I'm not asking these questions because I want Undisputed 2 to fail. I'm asking because I want boxing videogames to stop falling short of what the sport deserves.

The community should not have to choose between authentic boxing and enjoyable gameplay. Those two things should complement each other.

We also shouldn't have to sacrifice career mode, offline gameplay, creation suites, and boxing depth simply because competitive online gaming is popular.

A new engine doesn't automatically create a better boxing game. Hiring experienced developers doesn't guarantee authentic boxing systems. Motion capture doesn't guarantee boxer individuality. A larger roster doesn't automatically produce a deeper boxing experience.

What matters is what SCI can actually develop, implement, demonstrate, test, and deliver.

SCI, here is my challenge:

Don't just tell the community that you're building the ultimate boxing experience. Explain what you're building, why you're building it, who it's being built for, and how you intend to prove that it works.

And to my fellow gamers and content creators, stop treating legitimate questions as attacks against the developers. We are prospective paying customers, not an unpaid marketing department.

Twenty questions. Twenty opportunities for SCI to give consumers meaningful answers.

The question now is whether Steel City Interactive is willing to address them directly.
