📬 Open Letter to the Boxing Game Community: Stop Believing the Fight Night Rumors Until EA Speaks
To the boxing game community, boxing fans, and everyone tired of false hope,
It’s time we collectively put an end to the cycle of disappointment.
We’ve seen a pattern play out over and over again: a rumor leaks about EA reviving Fight Night, the community gets excited, and then—nothing. No announcement. No confirmation. No follow-through. Just another wave of empty hype that fades into silence.
Let’s be clear: we’ve been let down too many times over the years.
We were told it was coming back in 2014. Then again in 2017. Then 2020. Then 2021. A “Fight Night reboot” was reportedly under development—but where is it now?
Nothing.
If EA had any serious intent to bring back Fight Night, we wouldn’t still be relying on insider leaks and vague rumors. We wouldn’t still be looking for breadcrumbs. By now, we would’ve heard it from EA themselves—in a press release, teaser, or showcase. But we haven’t.
And yet, many in our community continue to latch onto these rumors, hoping this time will be different. But let’s ask the honest question:
Why are we still listening to rumors when EA has never shown us real commitment to boxing?
Let’s not forget: Undisputed’s Early Access launch was a clear signal. It broke through the silence of the genre. It got players talking. It surpassed Fight Night Champion in engagement. That was the moment EA could’ve—and should’ve—stepped in with an official revival. If Undisputed could spark that much momentum in its rough early state, surely EA saw the market potential.
Yet, silence.
So again we ask: What’s really stopping EA?
They’ve had every opportunity to speak up. If they truly cared about boxing fans, there would be no need for whispers. No rumors. No anonymous sources. There would be a real announcement. But we’ve had nothing of substance. Just more stalling and more disappointment.
🥊 Let’s Refocus Our Energy
It’s time we stop waiting for EA to save the genre.
Let’s support developers who are actively working to bring boxing back—and doing it the right way. Let’s hold SCI accountable for Undisputed and push for them to honor the realism they promised. Let’s empower indie developers and studios who respect the sport and the community. And let’s demand depth, authenticity, and innovation from those bold enough to step into the ring.
The era of empty hype needs to end.
Until EA says it themselves, there is no new Fight Night. Period.
We’ve grown wiser. We know the game. And we refuse to be played again.
With respect to all true boxing fans who’ve waited long enough,
—A fellow day-one supporter who wants more than rumors
